I have the cash and have been looking for a Mark 3. I had one I got on Ebay that was a very good radio for a decent price, but these folks these days are unbelievable! From reading the descriptions, some barely know the English language and most can't spell. I really do think a couple are scams, but don't know for sure. I'm not taking the chance. I have a TRC458 that's supposed to be one of the best radios ever made! (per some web sites) Hmmmm I wonder !! (it's been in the closet for months) mad electronics in delaware has a very good mk3 with a banana mike and a low number gold d-104 his number is 302-875-5933

Back to the Mark III ping. Maybe the value of the ping cap still isn't large enough in value. Try a 47 MFD capacitor, you still might have to go with a little larger value to get the ping that you want but don't go much more than you have to. That will make the ping so long that it's irritating and that is also hard on the transmitter relays. Tombstone where can i get the 47 mfd cap and how much

Ya, I've never noticed a difference in the ping because of the type of microphone, either. On the Mark IV and IVA transmitters, they provided 5 volts to the 776 microphone. Not a bad idea as you never had to replace any battery on the base of the mic. I've used a Turner +2 on my Mark III, but I prefer using the EV 'banana' instead. The +2 works well too. As you said, you really don't have to provide much extra audio drive for that radio. Any un-amplified microphone would work well with it. cb i have a mark 3 that has a very slight ping i even had the cap replaced how can i get the long ping

Another fine CRR in the log. Last nights affair was filled with E skip stations. My S meter never went below a 7. We had plenty of checkins both local and DX. I think we may have made a few new friends. I was advertizing Grumpy's forum and talking about glowing galss. I was using my Imperial, Also heard Fixr OT480, another long winded ping Browning MK IV from "East Tennesse" a Sonar FS 23, a Cobra 2000 and plenty of unknowns. I also heard Steel Magnolia in there briefly. We were told by one of her locals that she dresses everyone down throughout the week and goes to church on sunday. I listened for the Classic Radio Roundup last night, but I never heard anything that lasted more than a few seconds. I did hear a station in West Virginia trying to check in to the C.R.R. As usual the idiot trying to play broadcast radio station up around the Great Lake States was coming in. It may be a 24/7 thing with him. He just plays some syndicated radio show that would normally appear on the AM broadcast band. I was able to null him out with the rotatable dipole, but still no C.R.R. coming in to South Carolina. Night Ranger he does the same thing down here in de on channal 24 am

I am inclined to agree with you. When I first started to make a sigma clone last year I had not gotten it together as well as it is now since redoing it. The result was that I felt the original Astroplane I had purchased was a better performer. I had mounted the Qv4k feedpoint at 36', and the Astroplane so that the top of it was at 54.5''. The top of both were respectively the Qv4k - 65', and the Astroplane 54.5'. I want to make comparisons again before the Astroplane clone goes to a friend who needs an antenna. Well, my findings, which admittedly were not scientific, but they were repeatable was that I "upgraded" from an original 1/2 wave Radio Shack "Super Maxim" antenna (17' high with 3 1/8th wave radials) mounted on 20' of steel mast, to the Astro Plane. Now, because of the design of the AP, I actually lost height, since most of the antenna hangs below the mount point. So that may have had some bearing on my results. I had 1 friend who was about 3/4 of a mile from me with an RF gain that he could roll back and give me a fine reading in signal. With the 1/2 wave antenna, I used to give him between a 1.5 and a 1.75 S-unit. The AP was between S1 and S1.5. The Hustler 5/8th wave I replaced the AP with (and still on the same mast, with the same radio and coax) would throw him between a S2.5 and S3. Then when I got the Sigma 4, that signal jumped again to close to S4. I'm sure the AP would have worked far better if I could have mounted it a full wavelength above the ground, but that was not in the cards back then. Still comparing different antennas has always piqued my curiosity. I've always wanted to set up an "antenna range" where a variety of antennas could be quickly set up and compared against each other to once and for all settle the question of which type of antennas work the best. But I'm also fairly sure that depending on the terrain and altitude, that the antenna which works best under one set of conditions will probably not be the antenna that works best under another set of conditions. But those are the mysteries of RF that make this hobby interesting. i have a maco 5/8 wave that i bought brand new in box that is about 40 years old mounted on a 22'pipe that performs great talk dx bare foot

]this was an e-mail sent to me by a friend I have a 'friend' that want to share part of his 35 million dollar account with me, and I really don't have to do anything but give him my bank account #. No matter how thin you slice it, it's still bologna. As I said in the previous post, a little checking on your end would have been wise before posting this as a "NEW COMPUTER VIRUS" warning. when i opened the e-mail and read it it said it was verified by snoops that is why i didn't go any further

no matter what you say bagger will say it is a conspiracy theory he does that on all of the forums he is on he just doesn't have the knowledge to understand what people post Yea..... I don't have the "knowledge" to accept the wild rantings of some cellar dweller on a keyboard, without a shred of hard, verifiable, corroborative, evidence. Silly me......... thats right silly you you don't understand hard evidence when it stares you in the face

I hate messages like this. Although there is some truth in the warning, just opening an email will NOT destroy your system unless you actually allow the computer to follow a link. Also, having virus that opens an "Olympic Torch" to 'burn' your C: drive is beyond ridiculous. A little fact checking from Snopes would have yielded this result: www.snopes.com/computer/virus/osama.aspthis was an e-mail sent to me by a friend

It can reformat a hard disk or otherwise cause your computer to crash. But whatever happens can be recovered from with a clean wipe of the disk and a restore (you do have backups right?) i have backups and a backup computer

I wouldn't put too much stock in these types of stories. While shock value is high, there is very little evidence which can be verified with any degree of certainty. The authors of these pieces expect the reader to take them totally at their word. There are a great number of people out there who like to spread conspiracy stories, and have been doing so for years. Most of them turn out to be little more than National Enquirer-worthy tripe. no matter what you say bagger will say it is a conspiracy theory he does that on all of the forums he is on he just doesn't have the knowledge to understand what people post

TWO SUBJECT LINES of which to be Aware.
Just verified this with Snopes and it is REAL. ALSO WENT TO TRUTH OR FICTION, IT'S on their site also.
PLEASE INFORM EVERYONE you know!
1.) Emails with pictures of Osama Bin-Laden hanged are being sent and the moment that you open these emails your computer will crash and you will not be able to fix it!
If you get an e-mail along the lines of 'Osama Bin Laden Captured' or 'Osama Hanged', don't open the Attachment!!!!
This e-mail is being distributed through countries around the globe, but mainly in the US and Israel.
Be considerate & send this warning to whomever you know.
2.) You should be alert during the next few days:
Do not open any message with an attached file called 'Invitation' regardless of who sent it.
It is a virus that opens an Olympic Torch which 'burns' the whole hard disc C of your computer!!!!
This virus will be received from someone who has

He could also be alive and in custody and they may be pumping him for info on his network. Yea, his "death" could be a cover story, and he's really squirelled away in some top secret place where they can use "enhanced interrogation" techniques on him without having to deal with bleeding heart journalists. It's certainly plausable, being that we have no solid proof that the body they dumped in the ocean was really OBL's. i think it was another ploy by obama to have his ratings increased,i believe he made a deal with bin laden, you know he was trained by the cia

IE9 is designed to work with Win 7 (and maybe Vista, but no one in their right mind uses Vista). You can still use IE8 with XP. We still have a few systems here running XP that I haven't upgraded yet. Firefox 4 works on XP, I believe. i have windows xp-home and i have windows 8 and firefox

Even if you documented the whole operation from attack to death to burial, showing him with a drivers license and full documentation proving he was Osama Bin Laden there will be someone claiming it was a double or some sort of fake. Some people just like looking for a 'worldwide' conspiracy. But you have to admit, the whole deal with dumping the body at sea, rather than using it to independently and positively identify who it was, seems a little suspicious. more govt. lies i want to see proof where is the body

Ive got so much engine noise coming thru my radios, I was thinking about installing a battery in the rear of my vehicles and running direct to the cb. When the battery would run down a bit, I would just charge it back up. Any responses would be greatly appreciated. Depending on where the noise is coming in from, running a separate battery may not solve the problem. If the noise is conducted through the power leads, you might be able to knock it down, but if it is being picked up by the antenna, then it will not help you. The way to determine whether the effort of running a separate battery is worth your time is to start the engine. Make note of the noise, then unplug the antenna lead. If the noise goes completely away, then your issue is noise being picked up by the antenna, and the separate battery won't help you. If the noise stays when the antenna lead is unplugged, then running the separate battery might help. In lieu of the separate battery, you might try in-line noise filters. They sell them at mobile stereo shops and places like Radio Shack at one time carried them as well. hook up your radio directly to the battery then disconnect the antenna like dave said or have a better filtering system put into radio
