Coming from Canada, so I get raped on shipping. But hey, It is NOS and a good performing radio. The one I had was good, but used. This one should work flawlessly. It has a factory open clairifier too!. I was going back and forth wether to pay too much for it.... then I said ahhhh heck do it. I did like the one I had, I was looking for another in better shape, welll you'all know how it is sometimes, your better judgement goes out the window sometimes.

I think your neighbor should buy it and stick it in the rear window of the "bus".

4/27/2011 - Classic Radio Roundup. 3 years running and still going strong. Last night's roundup was a bit rough but interesting too. The local miscreants were behaving themselves, and we had a good local group going strong. But then the skip level, which had been a dull roar, suddenly jumped way up and all sorts of stations were checking in. FIXR, with his usual fine sounding audio, was heard along with numerous other guys. The conditions were changing so rapidly, that it was tough to determine whether they were forum members or not. But we did hear most of you, at least briefly.
Pete was running his Pearce-Simpson Bearcat, and I had the Hy-Gain 623 humming along. A pair of Browning Golden Eagles (1 MK III and 1 MK IV) also graced us last night as well.

Hy-gain 623! Is it in good condition? Well, it has the usual age-induced wear marks consistant with a 35 year old radio. Electrically, it works fairly well, although the clarifier pot is starting to develop "dead spots". It's one of my favorite radios.........

I've been looking (not hard) for one in pretty good shape. That was one of my favorite radios.
Yours looks pretty sweet!

BTW, CRR is alive and well. It was a laid back local affair this week (with useless type skip noise in the background. I got to try four different rigs. Nothing special, it was the oddball week. Pioneer AM/FM/CB car radio, Cobra 29LTD, Peirce Simpson Bearcat 23, Regency CR123B.

A bit noisier than usual from the heavy duty E-layer skip. But while local talking was a little bit rough, we did manage to work a few of the forum regulars in the DX including Nightranger, Fixr and a couple others. So every cloud has a silver lining.......

This weeks CRR was very much the same as last. Night Ranger being the only "DX" checkin. The best part of the night was the sideshow with a woman in DXland going on and on for hours dude. she was on a roll, She only wanted to talk on her CB radio and not "play mental games" She was also mad at some one for stealing her pills @ $2 apiece. It was too funny, we were all listening to her.

She was telling him she did not want to be friends with him, claiming his wife was trying to sleep with her husband, and that he owed them money. I heard Fixr trying to check in to the Classic Radio Roundup last night. I tried to get back to him, but I don't think he heard me. On the low transmit audio on my Cobra CAM 88, I replaced the 12ax7a tube (the mic preamp) and the 12aq5 tube (modulator rube). The replacement 12ax7a tube sounded better than the one I took out. The tube tester showed the tubes I removed were good though. By the time I did all that the skip between South Carolina and Pennsylvania had mostly fallen out. There are no adjustments to tweak in the Cobra CAM 88 as far as transmit audio. The Sams Photo fact says to max out all the carrier generating IF stages, and from there the amplified mic audio is mixed in with the final carrier stage. I may check some of the resistor and capacitor values in the mic preamp circuit and modulator circuit to see if they have changed value. My CAM 88 has never been loud on transmit. The receive audio sounded a little low as well. Often the transmit audio circuit and the receive audio circuit that powers the speaker are the same circuit. Night Ranger

I think it might be because my WIFI signal is really weak here, and there just might not be enough bandwidth to support it. Anyway, sounds like a good night all around. I should be there for next week. Right now I'm sitting in front of the last campfire before heading home tomorrow.......

That wasn't the same "Grandma" that I wanted to make me an Apple pie last week? This female sounds way too young to be a grandma. My guess is she is in her 20s or 30s. She sounds like she would be more likely to bake you some marijuana brownies.

CRR for July 27 was another good event with plenty of check-ins. I was using my Regency CR123b. Thanks to: Skeeter,Nitro,#3,Kryptonite,Night Train for the locals, and Night Ranger and Fixr for the DX participants on CRR. Not to mention on very opinionated Southern Girl (Steel Magnolia?) again.

I heard someone in Michigan claim that Steel Magnolia was in Florida. On a negative note there is someone up towards the Great Lakes area that is rebroadcasting a talk radio show on channel 13 AM. It sounds like one of those syndicated right wing talk shows you hear all over the AM broadcast band at night. This is the second time I've heard it on 13 AM. I had to use the rotatable dipole to null it out for the first hour and half before I could hear much of anyone else. The Lazy H pointing towards PA knocked it down some, but not enough. Hopefully the HR 2/4/.5 array I'm working will have a narrow enough pattern to take it out. My receive conditions towards PA were barely there to none. The Great Lake states were coming in strong. I heard Fixr in Indiana trying to check in in to the C.R.R. Night Ranger

My apologies for missing the party, and more importantly not being there to switch the streaming audio receiver from the local hash and trash, down to 13 for the roundup. I was enjoying the day with family at Six Flags, and I didn't get home until close to 11:00 PM. I had figured I'd make at least some of it, but oh well....... Next week..... Oh wait, I'll be up at the lake again next Wednesday. Geeze.........

Spitfire,
I didn't hear anything from Pennsylvania, but I did talk to an op in Maryland during CRR. I also broke in on Steel Magnolia in Florida during her political discussion. I used to monitor channel 13 a couple of years ago and am familiar with her. Her husband is Quarterwatt, the guy that says "It's just that easy." all the time.
