Ok I glad you clarified that story but it still was pretty funny the way I told it. Then I think Leadfoot was looking online to find them for sale. He like were the hell did that guy get that thing. Gene got most of his stuff off of E-Bay. Sometimes they were good, sometimes not, like the gassy tube he deliberately blew up...... Did he say that tube is Candy? I guess because it was glowing red like the sun. Sitting there like Joe Dirt going dang it's candy baby! And sweating his butt off staring at a tube glowing blue and red and popping the breaker, going oh crap what happened I can't see a thing now that's funny I don't who you are 10-4!

THAT is classic "Zero-Five". And no, he said the tube looked "Gassy". Sometimes his Ohio-an accent was a little hard to understand......

I was waiting to hear the Barbie girl song in the background and saying I can hold this key down all day long!

Don't forget Classic Radio Roundup tonight!!!!! I may be a little late again tonight, but I'm looking forward to it. Hopefully there won't be any strife amongst the participants, and hopefully I won't fall asleep again......

I think tonight we should have a moment of silence for the Classic Radios that aren't with us anymore. Either beyond repair or burned up on are desks while in use. Or the one's that have been sitting around are shack waiting for us to repair them to their previous glory. We all have one I know!

And hopefully Bagger doesn't fall asleep on us again! Maybe he can nap before hand so he don't dose off in mid program.

The good news is that I can probably hang in there a little later than normal. But I'll probably start nodding off if I stay up too late.

I have heard sporadic E skip from New York, Ontario Canada, and the Great Lakes area. Occasionally a few lone stations in Minnesota will come in outside of the normal sporadic E skip season. I wonder if the "lake effect" is somehow affecting Sporadic E in that area. Night Ranger

CRR was a little slow to start last night, but a bunch of folks ended up checking in eventually. Propagation was nil and I had the rare opportunity to speak to an operator from Lancaster County, Pa. There was a check in from Delaware also.
My Sparky-O-Matic CB-5100 base was workin' it.

Pete was a surprising no-show this week, so no 'gate was done.

Hope to hear you in there Wednesday. I had to split at 10 pm last week due to work early the next day. I ran my not-yet-a-classic 2990 base as I had it all wired up on the bench for some maintenance I was doing on it. Shame on me, but I love that radio. She's getting the LED lighting treatment and brand new rubber push-buttons for that minty fresh white smile

I think the prices for Browning's and Tram's will get so high that the market will drop and people that service them will be far and few between. People will make them the new classics to have in there collection.

Hopefully no skip this time. 10-4! Actually, if last night's SNUBWAP was any indication, the summer sporadic-E skip cycle is ramping up. We might have the company of Night Ranger, FIXR, Doc Hammer, and a host of other CRR fans from other states who check in when the conditions are good. Not such a good thing for those farther out locals, who will get lost in the noise, but at least this skip will be far more preferable to the south-of-the-border Spanish speaking garbage that serves no real purpose, except to keep the S meter needle from falling below S6

The 1990's were (like the 80's were for cars) kind of boring and lackluster, when it comes to domestic Part 95 CB radios. Yea, there were exports, but I really don't count them, as they weren't legal CB's.

And the mobile's had no real excitement either. The only good thing new was the Export radios

Don't forget Classic Radio Roundup tonight! CRR was actually a little bit disappointing last night. Turnout was light (And Pete was inexplicably missing, even after telling me he'd be there that morning), and the "E" layer skip, that I had anticipated, never materialized. Unfortunately, the typical leftover "F" layer south-of-the-border nonsense, kept the noise level up enough that the more distant locals were masked out. I do want to thank Sparky, Gene, Tickle, Operator Ron, Top Gun, Ken, and the Quakertown crew (The up and coming retirement community for old time CB operators ), for checking in.

CRR was a little slow to start again. At first I could only hear the very local operators due to Mexican skip. Oh well, hopefully the browning Mark III ping was clogging their ears too. Funny, I could hear "Sweaty Maria" keep repeating her requests for her taxi cabs after the +400w browning ping when she was coming in at 40 over, haha. After things quieted down, a few "new to CRR" operators chimed in, like Rob and Tom from Quakertown. I believe Rob was running some cool Drake stuff. Hope to hear them on AM again. Later, I cued up a 2990DX that I had set aside a while ago due to a transmit audio fading issue. I wrote it up as, after half hour talk time, it was losing transmit audio at key-up, then after a few seconds the TX audio would return. I had a few intermittent coax jumpers also a while back and sure enough the radio seems to be okay now with a good 1-2 hour run without issue
