I would say it is a antenna specialist antenna. The price FREE, plus 50 feet of coax and a push up pole 25 feet, will pick it up this week. I already have a good antenna, Sirio 2016, also a loop antenna for dx also.

I purchased one yesterday at the pipe company...$133...it took 30 minutes putting together, my SWR is flat 1 to 1 , it is well constructed, and works good. I hear better, and talked to a friend 35 miles from here, and both ways 5 on the meter, I was running my Galaxy at 22 watts am..., satisfied so far..

A friend owns a imax 2000 it is on a crank up tower mounted about 10 feet above the tower. At 35 feet the swr is 1 to 3, when cranked up to 60 feet the swr jumps to 1 to 5, with no obstructions surrounding the area. No grnd plane attachment on the antenna either. What would cause the jump in the swr increasing the height. DOCTOR/795

YEP in the middle and the ring on the bottom where it swings a bit in the wind, breaks easily, I talked to a lot of dx with it, US and South Central America, but now it needs much repair, to bad like many other things, high price and cost reduction in the parts.

Where did you get the astroplane, I had one from the pipe company, the material is so cheap it must be handled with kid gloves or it falls apart.

I started in 1958 got a ham license, and still operate, got a cb license in 1961 and still operate. Got started by seeing a fellow talking on a radio from his car, and I asked him how can one do it, and I am still doing it<ha>, even did it as a career as a radio operator in the military coast guard and air force, for 22 years, and am still making contacts, its fun, and a great hobby

I have one, it is at 23 feet, with no problems, and is a flat swr of 1 to 1, it has been up for 3 years. Only disadvantage with my astro plane was it was a cheaply material wise built, and where the support goes to the ring broke, so I just sawed a small aluminum tube crossed over to the support coming down from the middle and hose clamped it on a few years ago, and it still works. I would not buy another one from the pipe company but by ce engineering I think it is called, much heavier material. I run it on 11 and 10 meters and get around the country on it on ssb and am with good reports and this isnt with excessive power at all.
